Fancy heading out on an adventure with your family and dog this bank holiday weekend?
As well as getting fresh air, exercise and tiring your pet out, it’s also the perfect time to make the most of the sunshine (wearing a pair of our sunglasses, of course!)
There is plenty of beautiful scenery in the UK to see and we’ve picked out some of our favourite dog-friendly places for you to try.
1- The Lake District: Explore the stunning landscapes of the Lake District National Park which has a variety of walks available. We would recommend Derwentwater, Ullswater and Coniston Water for anyone who hasn’t been there before!
2- Snowdonia National Park: Enjoy walks around Mount Snowdon where you’ll find the highest peak in Wales and explore the park’s picturesque valleys, lakes, and waterfalls.
3- The South Downs Way: Follow this long-distance trail that stretches across the South Downs National Park, offering panoramic views of rolling hills and coastal cliffs along the way.
4- The Cotswolds: Roam the charming Cotswold villages and countryside, with many footpaths and trails to choose from, such as the Cotswold Way.
5- The Peak District: Head out the scenic Peak District National Park to see the array of breathtaking views, rugged moorlands, and picturesque dales.
6- The Norfolk Broads: Get out in the fresh air and embrace a peaceful escape for you and your dog. The Norfolk Broads boast tranquil waterways and nature reserves like no other.
7- The Isle of Skye: Experience the dramatic landscapes of the Isle of Skye in Scotland, with walks to famous landmarks like the Old Man of Storr and the Fairy Pools.
8- The New Forest: Explore the ancient woodlands, open moors, and picturesque villages of the New Forest in Hampshire, where dogs are welcome on most trails.
When you set out on your adventure, remember to check local regulations and ensure that your dog is under control and cleaned up after during your walks. You also need to look after yourself by wearing sunscreen and wearing sunglasses with UVB protection.
